Have had another delve and come across another eight images, taken in 2015, that look way better as black and white. Some were heavily cropped but they do demonstrate the sort of image I want to be aiming for.
19th December 2020:
Having suggested to myself that I should not too 'over think' the whole process, it now occurs to me that my photo archive bunched into 'events' in chronological order as it is, is a natural story/diary of said events and as such needs to demonstrait some consistency when browsing it. Selecting for 'special treatment' will break that continuity up. Think about setting up a sperate, appropriately annotated collections of exported 'special treatment' images.
18th December 2020:
It looks as though I have contradicted myself over the B/W vs Colour decisions - not really! I just did not express myself clearly. Have to get my head round what I meant!
17th December 2020:
The ability to predict and capture a moment of 'life' is a solitary proces that relies on total concentration. Having to decide 'on the hoof' if this or that image would look better in monochrome or colour would be a distraction and loose me the shot!
Post processing of RAW files removes that distraction.
