31st July 2014. The bells have been returned to Covington by Simon Williams and the bell hanger chaps arrive first thing and begin moving everything into the church ready to install the main framework and hang the bells Whilst the frame is being raised up into the tower Ian Peter and Ted check things out and Peter tidies up a bit for a visit to the village by the YIP Club [Young Independent Persons] The bell frame is gradually assembled and the first of the bells is raised into the tower The electricians come to move a tower light to make room for one of the bell ropes and some YIP club members explore the churchyard. The Reverend Steven Bowring arrives with his 'tool kit' to bless the new fourth bell Stephen carries out the blessing then the last of the bells were raised back into the tower with their new companion On Monday the 4th of August 2014 the bell hanger chaps come to make the final adjustments to the bells and at 1pm people arrive for the first official ringing of the bells. Well! I guess that is about it for the actual restoration. Hope you enjoyed the images. JT |
